HILSEA Range information & opening

Opening Information


The dates shown below are subject to change at short notice but whenever possible such changes will be shown on this website. 



The range is operated on a purely voluntary basis and there may be times when the Range Officer is not available to open to the stated hours. 



Please understand and respect these occasions.   

 

Please note

The last entry to the Hilsea range is 30 minutes before closure. This is to allow the range officers enough time to close down the range. Thank you.

Facilities

 This range offers an excellent facility for small bore and full bore rifles. There are 8 shooting positions spread across 2 ranges with a shooting distance of 25 yards. Shooting is possible from a sitting, standing or prone position. There is also a small air range available. All ranges are equipped with heating in the winter to stop the chill from affecting your aim.  We maintain good cleanliness and cleaning is carried out once a week to make a more pleasant and healthy shooting experience. The club has various equipment available to shooters free of charge.

Club Room

Our club room is well established with many facilities available including an equipped kitchen area with food and drink preps.  A selection of hot/cold drinks and snacks are available.

The club room has plenty of seating in our comfortable seating area, This is the perfect place to sit and relax after an evening of shooting, or read one of our many shooting magazines available.

The club has a large carpark situated at our entrance with direct access from the A3 into Portsmouth.

Only firearms that are within the limits specified on the Range Safety Certificates (as displayed on range doors) may be used and "black powder" may not be used in muzzle loading firearms. 


The last detail will commence 1/2 hour before closing time to allow the Range Officer to leave on time.

Our Hilsea range is protected by permanently recording CCTV in most areas of the site for your safety and to ensure compliance of our range safety regulations. 


The reception desk / sales desk is continually manned by a club officer, who keeps an eye on everything that happens both on and off the ranges via CCTV.

The club has a large carpark situated at our entrance with direct access from the A3 into Portsmouth.


The car park is free of charge to all our members and guests.


Please note that this car park is locked from 21.00.
